A few years back, I stumbled upon an ad about health coaching in integrative nutrition. At that time, I wasn’t clear on what it was exactly. But, since I’ve always been very interested in learning about health, wellness and nutrition it sounded like something that would interest me a lot. So, after doing some research on the subject, I instantly knew that this was for me. Its’ unique concepts helped me get healthier and happier and, in consequence, I was eager to share all what I learned with others.
In this article, I would like to share these unique core principles with you to help you understand a little bit more what I do as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and why you should definitely try it.

To begin, I view food in two different categories: Primary and Secondary food.
Primary food is what nourishes our soul. Actually, it’s one of the foundations of health coaching in integrative nutrition. Indeed, our relationships, physical activity, our career and spirituality are all very important factors that influence our mental health and happiness. That is to say, that no matter how clean we eat, if these aspects of our life are not in alignment with our values, we’ll still be unhappy.
On the other hand, secondary food is all the food that we eat physically. Personally, I believe that there’s no one-size-fits-all diet. Actually, there are so many dietary theories out there that it can be confusing, that’s why I encourage my clients to try and experiment in order for them to find the perfect fit. But, even if I inform people about them, I use them more as guidelines and ideas rather than following them strictly. My goal is to help find the individual formula to health and well-being by focusing on the person and not on one specific theory.
Crowding out

In addition, one of the key for long-term results is to not feel deprived. I actually believe that crowding out certain foods is more effective than just reducing the list of your “good” foods. Basically, this means that I’ll encourage my clients to add more foods in their diet so that they will naturally crave less the foods that are not as beneficial for them. In my personal experience, that’s the key for long term results.
 Body intelligence
As one of my teachers, Joshua Rosenthal, always says: “given half the chance, the body will heal itself by itself”. Personally, I find this sentence very powerful. Indeed, it shows how much the body is intelligent and wants to be healthy.
 Some tips
But, even though everyone is very different, these small steps will already go a long way to help you optimize your health:
-Reduce your meat, milk, sugar and “chemicalized” artificial junk food intake.
-Have plenty of fruit, vegetables and whole foods.
-Eat appropriate protein.
-Drink enough water.
-Rest enough.
-Consume less coffee and alcohol.
