The Importance of Primary Food
In my Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching program, my goal is to help people feel good in their bodies and minds. In order to reach their goals, I not only help them attain a healthy diet but I also look at all the other things that prevent them from attaining optimal health. This is where the importance of Primary Food comes in.
What’s Primary Food?
Primary Food is all the food that you don’t physically eat. It includes relationships, exercise, career and spirituality. We can have the best diet in the world but if our Primary Food is not healthy, it’ll be seen in our physical or mental health.
Call to action
So think about the four categories of Primary Food. Is there an area that you feel like you need to give a bit more attention to? What are your goals to improve that area of your life? What steps would you take to reach those goals?
Take some time today to reflect on these questions. Make sure that your goals are realistic and doable. Don’t hesitate to take very small and simple action steps in order to make sure that you’ll accomplish them. And most of all, celebrate the small victories along the way. Health is a never ending journey, so you might as well have fun in the process.

As you might have understood, Primary Food is as essential if not more important than whatever diet you are eating. The quality of your relationships, exercise, career and spirituality will greatly influence your feeling of joy and satisfaction.
